Adjunctive Care
Although the primary tool of the Chiropractor is the adjustment, it's often necessary to use other modes of therapy to ensure a full and quick recovery. Listed below are some of the additional treatments we use at Bridgepoint Chiropractic.

Soft tissue therapy is very important in helping to speed recovery. Tight muscles can cause an adjustment to lose its effectiveness due to increased strain on the joint complex. This is why most people feel great after their first treatment, but slowly return to a state of discomfort. Working the muscles decreases their effect on the joint, allowing the adjustment to have longer lasting effects.

Low level laser therapy is a mode of treatment that increases cellular healing by increasing the amount of available energy to the cells. Certain wavelengths of light energy (usually infrared) are able to travel through superficial tissues to reach the injured area, which absorbs the energy. With more energy, cells can repair themselves quicker, thus speeding up the healing process.

Electro-therapy plays an important role in decreasing inflammation and pain sensation. Interferential Current (IFC) and Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) work by stimulating the nerve fibers in the body to decrease pain sensation. Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) can be used to help strengthen muscles that may be weak or atrophied due to injury or surgery.

Stretching and strengthening are important for prevention and future relapse of any posture-related conditions. Stretching tight muscles can help increase the effectiveness of the adjustments, while proper muscle strength and symmetry help to maintain a healthy body and spine.

If required, the above treatments are included in the price of your visit. Occasionally, we may suggest other ways to improve your health. These include products such as vitamins and supplements, home exercise equipment, pillows and orthotics. As these items are yours to keep, they carry additional charges. Some items, such as orthotics, may be covered by your health insurance.
